The Essentials tab is designed to collect the basic information about your hackathon.
Try to be specific and informative when choosing your hackathon name. “Apps Against Abuse” is an example of an aptly named hackathon. "App Hackathon 1.0" on the other hand, is not.
Choose a URL that includes some part of your hackathon name so that it is easy for people to remember. For example, the Disrupt SF 2018 URL was disruptsf2018.devpost.com.
Note: once you publish your hackathon you will not be able to edit your URL anymore. Contact us if you need to make a change to the URL.
All hackathons are set to (GMT -05:00) Eastern Time by default. However, if you’d like to use your local time zone, you can set that up here.
Good taglines include the name of the organization/group hosting the hackathon, what the hackathon is, and what people should submit. An example of a good tagline is: Transform the clinical trial experience for patients — submit apps that educate, engage, and empower participants enrolled in clinical studies.
Manager contact email
Participants will have questions for you about your hackathon. We recommend including an email address that will be connected to a homepage button "Email the hackathon manager." The address will be publicly visible to users who click that link.
