We would love to allow participants from all countries and regions to participate in hackathons, but due to local laws, Foreign Asset Control, and other legal restrictions, we need to restrict global hackathons to protect hackathon sponsors from legal risk.
Based on where you reside, laws of the United States or your local laws, you might be prohibited from participating or receiving a prize in a competition. As hackathons are competitions, we need to abide by these laws and need to exclude individuals who are residents from the following countries and regions;
- North Korea
- Any other country designated by the United States Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control
As a hackathon manager, be sure to set up the correct eligibility requirements to ensure you are inviting participants that you are able to reward. Read more about eligibility requirements here.
