Registration questions
Adding registration questions for hackathons is now available! There are some key features to note regarding registration questions:
- You must be in Edit mode to add them (you’ll notice a + REGISTRATION QUESTION option under the Image area)
- There are four options for responses: Dropdown (single select), Dropdown (multi-select), Free Form text (short answer), or Free Form text (long answer)
- Users will be prompted to respond to the questions when clicking Register on the hackathon page
- Responses to registration questions can be found in the Download status by user report under Hackathon metrics
Submission period
Click Deadline and edit the Submission period and Time zone of your hackathon. Optionally, you can also notify registrants via email when submissions open and when submissions close by toggling on/off — by default, registrants will be reminded 24 hours prior to when submissions open and 2 hours prior when the submission deadline will be reached.
Hackathon Description
Click the text box to add a description of your hackathon. Headers and copy are pre-populated to help guide you as to what to communicate with your participants.
Project Templates
Project templates not only make it easier for participants to create their projects, but they also improve the quality of submissions across the board.
To create a project template, scroll down to the Projects section of the hackathon. Click Edit project template to customize it to your hackathon requirements. You can edit the project title, required assets, and the description, shaping a template for your participants to follow.
Once you have added a template, click Save. Saving a project template will only apply to the hackathon that you have selected to add the template for and it will not affect existing projects that have already been added to the hackathon.
Tip: Use descriptive headers within the Description section to guide your participants. For instance, if you’re seeking their insights on how their project can enhance a specific business area using GenAI, try using a header like “Identify your GenAI use case” to prompt your hackathon participants to explain.
Project Requirements
This area will indicate what you’re requiring participants to submit along with their project. For example, if you are asking participants to submit a working application, you may want to select prototype. There is also an option to submit a custom project asset. Simply click CUSTOM REQUIRED ASSET and input the requirement.
Max Team Size
If necessary, hackathon creators can limit the number of team members on each project by editing the project requirements and setting a MAX TEAM SIZE.
Awards
Ranked: Group ranked awards together (e.g. 1st, 2nd, 3rd place) and add prizes of varying values.
Unranked awards: Add unranked awards when you’re awarding equivalent prizes.
Additional Details
To include supplemental information to help your participants during the hackathon, click Additional Details and you’ll be redirected to a page that allows you to add resources, workshop details, or other hackathon details.
You can also remove pre-populated headers or edit them as you see fit.
Schedule
The hackathon schedule is automatically populated with the date and time of when your Submissions open and when the Submissions deadline is reached. You can add other events that occur during the hackathon by clicking EVENT. If there is a virtual conference link or an in-person location associated with the event, be sure to add those details in the Event link and Location fields.
Community Chat
If your hackathon is using a chat app like Slack, Discord, or Teams you can add the invitation link to the Community chat field that will be displayed as Join chat to registered participants.
