Step 11: Starter Kit (optional)

The Starter Kit feature under Edit hackathon allows hackathon managers to send an email to every participant upon registration — it typically includes information on how to get started on the project, access required tools, and links to resources that would be useful to reference.

Please note that starter kits are encouraged, but are not required as part of your hackathon.

To add a starter kit, select Starter Kit under Edit hackathon. Include a Subject (this will appear as the subject line of your email, we suggest subjects such as “Getting Started” or “Starter Kit”) and the Content. Once you’ve populated the content of your starter kit, click Save.

You can also preview it by adding your email to the Send a test email field on the right of the Content text box.

Starter Kits are only meant for new registrants to help them begin their projects, if you need to send updates after someone registers check out Communicating with Participants.
