Your privacy on Devpost
At Devpost, we value your privacy and safety. Setting your account to Private allows you to use our essential features while keeping your activity and identifiable information as private as possible. Here is how it works:
Private accounts
When you set your account to private:
Your avatar and real name will be hidden
People, other than your followers and managers of hackathons you’ve registered to, will not see your avatar or real name throughout the site, nor will they have access to links to your portfolio page.
People going directly to your portfolio page – this is only possible if they know your username – will see your real name, but no further identifying information. This helps your friends confirm they are requesting to follow the right person.
Following requires approval
Other users will need to request to follow you. You will receive an email notification each time somebody requests to follow you, and you will be able to approve or reject the request, giving you control over who can follow you. (When a user is following you on Devpost, they’ll be alerted when you register for a new hackathon and when you add a new project.)
You will be able to block users
You will be able to block users and existing followers - they’ll no longer be alerted when you register for a new hackathon or add a new project. You will be able to unblock users if desired.
You still will have full use of the site
You will still be able to like, comment, register, submit, and send and receive teammate requests.
Privacy settings
In your account settings you can enable / disable private account and also choose to hide your profile from search engines (note this only impacts your profile page, not any project pages)
