How to enter a submission
Note: This article covers submitting a project to a hackathon. You can also add a project to your portfolio outside a hackathon.
Once you’ve registered for a hackathon, you can begin the process of submitting a project. Once on the Overview page of your hackathon, navigate to the sidebar and choose one of two options: Start project or Import from portfolio.
Start project
Clicking Start project will create a new ‘Untitled’ project–the first step in your hackathon submission. Add or remove teammates on the Manage Team step, and add your project’s basic details such as project name and elevator pitch (i.e tagline) on Project Overview.
Navigate to any step of the submission process by clicking on that stage in the submission nav (Manage team, Project overview, etc.) at the top. Note that you can find out more in detail about each of these steps in this Know Your Submission Steps article. The green check mark indicates completed steps.
When you’re ready to submit your project, continue to the Submit step and click Submit project. If you still have steps to complete before submitting, an error message will direct you to complete the missing steps.
Note: If your project is in the Draft state, this means that your project has not been submitted to the hackathon, and you still need to enter all information and complete the final Submit step of the process.
Import from portfolio
To submit an existing project from your portfolio, click the Import from portfolio link near the top of the hackathon sidebar. After clicking Import from portfolio, select one of your pre-existing projects that you’d like to submit. Upon selecting the project, you’ll be taken to the Project details step and your project will now be a Draft submission in the hackathon.
Note: Be sure to read the rules and update your existing project to meet the requirements of the hackathon!
How do I know if my project has been submitted successfully?
You’ll see a green notification bar at the top of the window confirming your submission.
Navigate to the My projects page on the navigation bar and you’ll see your submissions tagged Submitted in green.
Note: You can always go back into your project and edit it before the submission deadline.
