Know Your Submission Steps
You can get a headstart on the submission form by heading to your My Projects tab. You'll be able to continue editing it until the deadline so we strongly encourage you to start early!
We know procrastination gets the better of us so here's a look at the content you'll need to complete the submission:
Step 1: Manage your team
- No questions here! Just add your teammates by entering their email in the prompt or copy and share your invitation link if you're not working solo.
Step 2: Project Overview
- Project name*
- Project tagline*
- Thumbnail image for the Project Gallery | This should be a JPG, PNG or GIF format, 5 MB max file size. For best results, use a 3:2 ratio.
Step 3: Project Details
- Project story* | A text description is required in some format. Your project story section will prompt you with headings that make for a strong description. You can change it as you'd like and use Markdown to fancy it up!
- Built with tags* | Tag the sponsor's tool and any other technology you included.
- Try it Out links | This MAY be required. If not, you will likely be prompted in Step 4 for a format specific to the hackathon requirements.
- Image Gallery | Add any relevant screenshots, logos, charts, or images that support your project.
- Video demo link* | This is usually required! Your video must be hosted publicly on YouTube, or Vimeo to properly embed for the judges. Be sure to check the Hackathon Rules for any requirements regarding maximum video length.
Step 4: Additional Details
This is where we get specific about the hackathon! The questions listed below are examples - submission forms will vary here:
- Submitter Type: Individual, Team, or Organization*
- Countries of Residence*
- Category*
- URL to your code repository*
- MIT License*
- Publicly available*
- Explanation of how you improved your project during the hackathon*
- Developer account ID*
- Feedback about the required developer tools
Step 5: Submit
- Agree to the hackathon terms and conditions and click submit!
Step 6: Proofread
- Double check your project using the View button. Make sure your formatting looks good and that you replaced your Rick Astley video before the deadline!
Note: If the Hackathon you’re participating has a icon on the Overview page, the Devpost team will be reviewing submissions as they come in. That means that if you submit your project at least one week before the deadline, your submission will be checked for baseline eligibility, and you will receive a message if any part of your submission requires revisions. So, submit early to make sure nothing gets in the way of your submission being fully eligible!
